Valentin Ranger
Valentin Ranger is a young French artist whose work was exhibited in May 2022 at the Studio des Acacias for the first group show of Reiffers Art Initiatives, entitled “DES CORPS LIBRES – Une jeune scène française”. Still a student at the Beaux-Arts in Paris, he describes the landscape that inhabits his mind as a “huge opera”. With a background in theatre, the young man first found the confidence to assume himself as he was, before coming up against the limits of the human body.
Biography
Still a student at the Beaux-Arts in Paris, the artist describes the landscape that inhabits his mind as a «huge opera».
Influenced by popular fictions and the fantastic universes of video games, in his works, his agender characters with heart-shaped heads embody
the guardians of a hybrid wonderland. Fantasmagoric, the creatures in his work coexist in harmony to the point of merging their bodies in euphoric scenes.

“The phantasmagorical orgies of the artist Valentin Ranger, theaters of beings in mutation” by Matthieu Jacquet
— Numéro, 2021
“At the dawn of the 16th century, the painter Jérôme Bosch completed his Garden of Earthly Delights, a fascinating triptych illustrating fundamental Christian myths, from the creation of Adam and Eve in Eden to the horrors of hell and its sinful souls. A major work in which humans, demons and giant animals abound by the hundreds in a lush decor, sometimes caught up in the excesses of lust and gluttony, sometimes in those of anger and punishment. Four centuries later, this abundance could well find its echo in the work of Valentin Ranger: freed from the religious fervor of his Dutch elder, the work of this young French artist also gives pride of place to enjoyment, desire and to excess. Phantasmagoric, his world is full of sperm-shrubs, heifer-women, phallic fruits and other butterfly-men who, without showing the slightest hostility, coexist in harmony to the point of merging their bodies in euphoric scenes."
